3. How We Use Your Data

We use the personal data we collect solely for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiries — processing messages submitted via the contact form and following up by email.
  • To process donations — verifying transactions, issuing acknowledgements, and fulfilling legal accounting obligations.
  • To operate and improve the website — analysing anonymous usage statistics to improve performance and content.
  • To comply with legal obligations — fulfilling requirements under Lithuanian and EU law, including financial reporting for non-profit organisations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not use your data for automated profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal effects.

For every processing activity, we rely on one of the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by applicable law:

  • Contact form data — up to 2 years from the date of your inquiry, unless an ongoing case requires longer retention.
  • Donation records — 10 years in accordance with Lithuanian accounting and tax legislation.
  • Website analytics / server logs — up to 12 months, in anonymised or aggregated form thereafter.

When retention periods expire, data is securely deleted or anonymised.

6. Third Parties and Data Transfers

We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers acting as data processors on our behalf:

  • Payment service providers — to process donations securely. These providers maintain PCI DSS compliance. We do not store full payment card details on our own systems.
  • Email service providers — to send acknowledgements or reply to your inquiries.
  • Web hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate the website.

All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses under Art. 46 GDPR).

We do not disclose personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

  • Right to rectification (Art. 16) — to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17) — to request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”), subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18) — to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20) — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object (Art. 21) — to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent — at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 10. We will respond within 30 days of receipt of your request, in accordance with Art. 12 GDPR.
