Doberman Media Signs International Call for the Universal Decriminalization of Homosexuality
NGO Doberman Media has officially signed the international appeal calling on the United Nations to adopt a resolution in favor of the universal decriminalization of homosexuality.
The initiative was launched by IDAHO France as part of a renewed global campaign against the criminalization of LGBTQ+ people worldwide. According to the appeal, homosexuality remains criminalized in 64 countries, while in several states same-sex relations can still lead to the death penalty.
The document urges UN member states to move beyond symbolic declarations and support a formal UN resolution condemning laws targeting LGBTQ+ people and calling for their repeal.
By signing this appeal, Doberman Media reaffirms its commitment to human rights, dignity, freedom, and the protection of LGBTQ+ communities, including Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ migrants and refugees from CIS countries.
“No one should face persecution, violence, discrimination, or exile because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
The appeal also references the words of UN Secretary-General António Guterres:
“Being yourself should never be a crime.”
